Teachers in Jeffco

Candidates for an elementary teaching position must hold a valid Colorado Teaching License and be In-Field Elementary endorsed by passing the PRAXIS or an approved out of state content exam.

Candidates for a secondary teaching (7th-12th grades) position must hold a valid Colorado Teaching License with the appropriate In-Field endorsement for the content they will be teaching.

Special Service Providers

It takes a team of providers to prepare all of our students for bright futures. Jeffco values the service of counselors, social workers, school psychologists, and speech language pathologists, to name a few. Our Special Service Providers are crucial to our students’ success.

Specific information about the position descriptions and licensing and endorsements required for these team members can be found with each announcement of opening at the Jeffco Job Board. Search for current openings under the job category “Licensed” and then the appropriate sub-category.

Educators Professional Inventory

Jeffco believes that great student achievement starts with great teachers. If you are an external applicant applying to a licensed teaching position, you will be required to complete the Educators Professional Inventory, or EPI. Internal candidates are strongly encouraged to take the assessment, though not required. The EPI will help to determine your overall potential effectiveness as an educator, and will provide feedback to help you develop in your career.

Professional Development

Jeffco Public Schools provides significant support for our teachers. From kindergarten through twelfth grade and everything in between, we know that the more you learn and apply with your students, the brighter our children’s futures will be!
If you are new to the field or new to Jeffco, our induction support program can help you obtain your professional license, learn important responsibilities of your position, and familiarize you with Jeffco’s system of providing guaranteed and viable curriculum through research-evidenced instructional strategies. We will provide you opportunities to collaborate with colleagues through professional learning communities and one-to -one instructional coaching.

Opportunities for all teachers to develop professionally are included in our early release days, leading student achievement days, online through Schoology, and through partnership with our content specialists in the Educational Research and Design department.
Students in Jeffco coursework can earn additional duty pay, clock hours toward relicensure, or graduate credit from state colleges and university, such as Adams State University or Regis University. Let our Jeffco cycle of continuous improvement help you hone your craft of teaching to build bright futures for all students!
