Early Childhood

Play to learn and learn to play in our Jeffco early childhood classrooms. Our instructors engage Jeffco’s youngest students in movement, music, art, and rich language development on their way to a new understanding of literacy, numeracy, and the world around them. The social and academic skills our teachers carefully develop with our Jeffco preschoolers are truly the building blocks to a great education.

Our preschool instructors have their Early Childhood Teacher qualifications through the Colorado Department of Human Services. An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education is preferred. A minimum of one year teaching experience with preschool children is recommended, as well as experience with curriculum and assessment. Instructors must have current CPR and First Aid, or complete this within 60 days of hiring. New hires to early childhood instruction must complete fingerprints and the TRAILS report within the first week of employment; a small fee is charged.

Early Childhood Instructors

Early Childhood instructors in Jeffco design and implement curriculum that guides our preschool children to grow cognitively and psychologically to their fullest potential. They collaborate with co-teachers, special education providers, directors, and all team members to share responsibility for the classroom environment, appropriate instructional strategies, and each child’s well-being. They observe and assess their children’s growth and regularly report on student progress. They engage with families as valued stakeholders, for example, conducting parent conferences at least twice annually. And last but not least, they prepare kids for bright futures!

To apply for an Early Childhood instructor position, visit the Jeffco Job Board and search openings under the job category “Hourly,” subcategory “Early Childhood and School Age Enrichment.” Early Childhood instructor is a benefits-eligible position and is paid at an hourly rate, varied per your education and experience.
