Council on Diversity
The Council on Diversity, made up of parents, staff, students and community members, is committed to upholding and supporting the district's Strategic Plan and policy that no otherwise qualified person shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to unlawful discrimination under any district program or activity on the basis of ethnicity or race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
- To increase student achievement and ensure a safe, respectful learning environment for all students and staff.
- To serve as a sounding board for and provides support to students, staff and community regarding diversity and equity issues within the district.
- To examine equity issues and make recommendations to district leadership and the school board.
- To recommend diversity and equity training that improves student achievement.
- To review all aspects of the recruiting process and make recommendations to Human Resources for improvement.
- To be an avenue to address equity concerns of parents, students, and staff within the district.
- Create a personal awareness of diversity issues and to share that with others.
- Serve as a sounding board for issues about equity and diversity.
- Act as a resource to parents, community and school.
- Help make changes in the area of equity and diversity.
- Influence inclusive activities, programs and resources.
- Raise issues of concern and to ask key questions.
- Gain knowledge of district policies, procedures and plans.
- Support equity/diversity initiatives in Jeffco Schools.

The Council on Diversity rewards individuals or groups for exceptional work in promoting diversity and equity in the Jeffco Public Schools.
The nominations are in the following categories:
Administrator
Classified Employee
Club/Organization
Community/Parent
Licensed Employee Student
In addition, the Council on Diversity may choose one individual to receive the Wayne Carle Legacy Foundation Award for their most outstanding work in diversity and equity in the district.
