Legislative Forum

Public education in Jefferson County has a strong advocate in the Jeffco Schools Legislative Forum. Perhaps the only school district group of its kind in the nation, its members track proposed legislation and lobby state legislators from Jefferson County. 

It has a steering committee that meets weekly in a roundtable format to discuss pending legislation. Each group presents its position (support, oppose or monitor), and together the members try to reach consensus. 

The forum’s liaison teams then meet several times with their assigned state legislators from Jefferson County during the legislative session to discuss and advocate for consensus positions. See the Legislative Forum Web site.
