The district's school year calendar is developed by the Calendar Committee which is made up of parents, students, teachers, staff and community members. Read more.
Jeffco neighborhood elementary schools issue report cards three times each academic year, or roughly every 12 weeks. Read More. The report card samples will be updated for the 2011-12 school year soon.
For most Jeffco middle and high schools, progress reports are issued at the end of each six week grading period with a report card issued at the end of each trimester/semester. A student's middle and high school grades can be reviewed on the district's online parent portal.
Parents of high school students may wish to view the policy on high school grading for details on weighted classes, class rank and grade point average.
Records for current Jeffco students are maintained at their school.
The district recognizes that effective student discipline is a major contributor to the creation of a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
Annually the district publishes and distributes to all students the Code of Conduct designed to promote safety through high standards of behavior. The booklet includes all Jeffco Schools' policies related to student conduct and discipline.

Every two years, Jeffco students in grades two through 12 are given a chance to tell the district how they feel about issues ranging from safety to academics. More than 85 percent of students took the 2012 Make Your Voice Heard survey which was given online in February. Read more.
The school district is divided into 17 articulation areas each comprising one or two high schools and the feeder elementary and middle schools. Each articulation area is managed by one of four community superintendents, who responds to parental concerns that cannot be resolved at the school level and monitors and evaluates school effectiveness. Parents can keep updated about their student's education, both at the school and district level. Each school has a website and a school newsletter. The district also offers Chalk Talk a monthly parent newsletter that is sent to each families' e-mail, and the Key Communique, an e-mail newsletter for Jeffco education advocates who belong to the Key Communicators' Network. SchoolMessenger is a automated communications system that sends messages to families via e-mail, phone and text message. Parents often receive e-mails from schools regarding security issues. Federal law requires educational institutions to provide military recruiters, institutions of higher education and prospective employers, access to secondary school students’ names, addresses, and telephone listings. Read more.
Colorado State Law (CRS 22-32-117) allows the Board of Education to authorize the collection of fees. The district supplies students with textbooks and instructional materials which are necessary for successful completion of approved courses of study. Students may be required to pay the cost of materials for projects when the items produced will be retained by the student.See a fee schedule example and learn more.
Our students’ safety and well-being is our greatest concern and we want them to have medical care in case of an accident. We encourage parents and guardians to enroll their children in accident and medical insurance programs. There are several low cost plans available including K & K Insurance Group. Review their premium costs here and see a flier and enrollment form. Check with an insurance company for additional plans.
Graduation requirements, adopted by the Jefferson County Board of Education, call for each student to have a Six-Year Graduation Plan beginning in seventh grade. Read more about the Plan.

Parents provide contact information and other student data to schools online via Jeffco Connect. Jeffco Connect lets parents fill out their student's contact and demographic information from any computer that has an internet connection, and make updates when needed, so that schools always have the latest emergency contact information.
