Parent Involvement
Jeffco Public Schools has a Parent and Community Involvement coordinating committee composed of representatives from the community, Jeffco PTA, Accountability, the Jefferson County Education Association, the Jefferson County Administrator Association, the Classified School Employees Association, and district cabinet. This committee meets monthly to facilitate the implementation of the targets in the district’s strategic plan. These include encouraging a deeper understanding of a welcoming environment in all schools, increasing the level of parental involvement in support of student achievement, establishing partnerships that support Jeffco Schools in reaching the mission, and encouraging a school based decision making process that is welcoming, and inclusive.

In Colorado, the focus of school accountability is at the school level. The local accountability committees set prioritization of expenditures of school money; determine whether decisions affecting the educational process are advancing or impeding student achievement; report educational performance to the public; review safety issues; and adopt high, but achievable goals and objectives for improvement of education. See additional information about school-based decision making. The Colorado Department of Education supports school districts through a framework that establishes performance expectations.
