<title>Solar System Walk Dedication</title>

<description>Officials from both Lockheed Martin and Jeffco Public Schools and approximately 100 students from Mitchell Elementary and Pleasant View Elementary Schools will be at a dedication ceremony for two new Solar System Walks built by Lockeed Martin employees on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 12:15 p.m. at Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab School, 201 Evans Ranch Rd., Evergreen. Following the dedication, students will lead tours of the solar system walk.

<title>Storm Damages Many Jeffco Schools</title>

<description>Overnight storms in the Denver metro area have damaged at least 40 Jeffco schools and district buildings.  Many schools have broken windows and skylights while others have significant damage to trees and landscape.  The initial damage estimate is at least half a million dollars.Jeffco maintenance crews began the repair work early this morning, trying to board up broken windows before more rain hits the area.

<description>This week, contract talks between Jeffco Public Schools and its teacher’s union, the Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA), went to impasse after the board of JCEA voted to reject the district’s pay proposal. The Jefferson County Board of Education supports the proposed contract offer which gives most Jeffco employees a total of 4.5 percent increase for 2009-2010.
