Jeffco school board sets 2007- 08 budget development forums

The community is encouraged to participate in budget forums to help the Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education finalize next year’s budget.

The budget development forums are scheduled for 10 a.m. – noon, Saturday, March 17, at the following locations:

• Pomona High School, 8101 Pomona Drive, Arvada
• Belmar Public Library, 555 S. Allison Parkway, Lakewood
• Dakota Ridge High School, 13399 W. Coal Mine Ave., Littleton
• Arvada Public Library, 7525 W. 57th Ave., Arvada
• Conifer High School, 10441 County Highway #73, Conifer
  

Each forum will is hosted by a school board member and will include a brief overview of the district’s Budgeting for Results process. Community members and staff will have the opportunity to talk with board members about funding priorities in the 2007-2008 budget. Over $7 million in targeted, measurable proposals to increase student achievement will be on the table for discussion.

In 2006, Jeffco Public Schools embarked on a new budgeting process that is designed to support the district's commitment to student achievement with its limited annual resources. Budgeting for Results creates a balanced budget that requires district leadership to align resources, services and structures with the core mission of increasing the achievement of every student.
