April 2, 2007 Bear Creek High School students returned to their classrooms after the school was closed on Saturday, March 17, due to a fire in an art room that caused major damage to one section of the building. The art room is expected to remain closed for the final nine weeks of the school year. Jeffco Public Schools administration announced closure of the school for more than two weeks after it was determined that extensive cleanup was required to mitigate the smell of smoke in the school and to remove residue from air vents.
