July 30, 2007 CONSTRUCTION CLOSES MAIN ENTRANCE OF WHEAT RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL The Wheat Ridge Farmers will make a grand entrance through a set of newly remodeled doors when they are welcomed back to school this year. Construction crews with Alliance Construction Solutions have kept a tight schedule over the summer renovating the Wheat Ridge High school’s main entrance and adding a brand new school parking lot. Originally, the two projects were not expected to be complete until the summer of 2008, but were moved up so the new entrance and new parking spaces would be ready for staff and students on the first day of school, Wednesday, Aug. 22. An old water main was discovered during the beginning construction on the parking lot, but construction crews say the extra work to replace the main with a new one should not hamper the timeline. While work continues, the normal 32nd Ave. school entrance is closed to keep people out of the construction zone. New and returning students can register by using the northeast entrance off of Holland St. The instrument and vocal rooms and nearby restrooms have also been pushed up on the construction schedule to be ready for students. The new administration/classroom section, boys locker room area, girls locker room area, team room and wrestling room are near completion and will be ready for use by the fall. Because of the tight schedule, Alliance has been running longer day shifts, second shifts at night and working weekends as needed to make the back-to-school deadline. The construction project was funded by a voter approved bond election in 2004. ### |
