Jeffco Public Schools to re-dedicate Chatfield Senior High School

Jeffco Public Schools will host a re-dedication ceremony at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, for Chatfield Senior High School.  The school is located at 7227 S. Simms St., Littleton, CO.

Scheduled to speak at the ceremony are State Senator Mike Kopp, Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education member Vince Chowdhury and school superintendent Dr. Cindy Stevenson.  An open house will follow the ceremony.

The $26 million, 270,575 square foot school is designed to accommodate up to 2,100 students. The addition/renovation project includes a new classroom wing, an auxiliary gym, larger commons, additional science classrooms, music and vocational programs and administrative offices. Specific upgrades include expanding the existing parking lot and a new heating and ventilation system. The soccer field, tennis courts and a new athletic practice field will be relocated at a site north of the school. A new front entry was added and temporary classrooms have been removed.

Funding for the renovations, which was completed on-time and on-budget, came from capital improvement bonds approved by voters in 2004.
