Hackberry Hill Elementary School re-dedication ceremony

Jeffco Public Schools will host a re-dedication ceremony for Hackberry Hill Elementary School at 1:45 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2007. The ceremony, open to the public, takes place at 7300 W. 76th Ave. in Arvada.

Scheduled to speak at the ceremony are Arvada Mayor Ken Fellman, Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education member Scott Benefield and Jeffco Public Schools superintendent Dr. Cindy Stevenson.  An open house will follow the ceremony.

The major addition to Hackberry Hill Elementary School included replacing an existing 25,000 square foot wing (built in 1966) and upgrading the remaining 21,000 square foot facility.  The school received major electrical system improvements, a partial mechanical system, replacement and miscellaneous building renovation and utility upgrades. There are also improvements to the paved parking lot and playground.  The school now has 20 classrooms with room for 480 students.

The $6.2 million in funding for the renovations came from capital improvement bonds approved by voters in 2004.  The renovation to Hackberry Hill was completed on-time and on-budget.
