For Immediate Release Nobel Peace Prize Winner Brings Message of Peace The students and staff of Foster Elementary School know they are an important piece of world peace. The school will welcome 1980 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Adolfo Perez-Esquivel, from Argentina, to share his message of peace. Esquivel grew up in Argentina in the 70s, when the army took over the country in a military coup that lasted seven years. Anyone who protested was taken prisoner, disappeared and was often killed. Fear did not silence Esquivel, who spoke out, exposing the world to what was happening in his homeland. Foster Elementary is a PeaceJam (www.Peacejam.org ) junior school and has invited past Nobel Peace Prize winners, Betty Williams (1976) and Shirin Ebadi (2003), to the school to share their stories. The PeaceJam Foundation’s mission is to create a new generation of young leaders committed to positive change in themselves, their communities and the world through the inspiration of Nobel Peace Laureates. Students will present speeches; dance the Tango and the PeaceJam leadership drum squad will perform.
