Students Return to Bear Creek High School

Bear Creek High School reopened on Tuesday after a fire caused extensive damage to the school on April 22.

Students will be attending classes on a split session because only about 60 percent of the building has been cleaned or repaired. Students have been assigned new schedules and will attend either a morning or afternoon session.  The sessions will run from 7:15 – 11:13 a.m. and from 11:23 a.m. – 3:21 p.m.  Students whose last names begin with A to L will attend the morning sessions; M-Z last names will attend the afternoon sessions.  All the students who take part in instrumental music will attend in the morning, vocal music students will attend the afternoon session.

Bus transportation is being provided for both the morning and afternoon sessions.  Because of the split schedule, lunch will not be served at the school; however breakfast is available beginning at 7 a.m.

A new Bear Creek High School is under construction near Kipling Parkway and West Dartmouth Place and is expected to open in fall 2009. The new school is funded with voter-approved bond money from the 2004 election.
