JEFFCO’S FINANCIAL REPORTING RATED EXCELLENT
For the 25th consecutive year, Jeffco Public Schools has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2007 fiscal year Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
Awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
When a Certificate of Achievement is awarded to a government, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) is also presented to the individual or department designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. This year’s CAFR is presented to Director of Accounting, Kathleen Askelson.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
