JEFFCO’S FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE SEEKS TO FILL TWO VACANT MEMBER POSITIONS
Nominations are being accepted from citizens to fill two volunteer positions to serve on the seven-member Financial Oversight Committee or FOC. Members must have a working familiarity with finance and accounting practices and business management expertise with large organizations.
The FOC’s primary function is to assist the Board of Education with oversight by reviewing financial reports and other financial information, the systems of internal controls regarding finance, accounting, legal compliance and ethics. The committee also assesses the business risk of the district, the auditing, accounting and financial reporting process. The committee should encourage continuous improvement of and foster adherence to district policies and procedures and practices at all levels.
Formed in 1999, the committee meets monthly and reports to the Board of Education quarterly. Existing members are: Chris Boggs, CFO for Western Distributing, Gordon Calahan, President, Calahan Construction, Helen Gair, Former Senior Vice President GMAC Commercial Holding, Koger Propst, President, First Bank of Colorado and Bob West, Former CFO, Jehn & Associates.
Nominees should submit a letter of interest as well as a brief resume outlining the credentials and experience to ensure candidates meet the policy requirements.
