PEAK GT Center Program accepting round two applications
The PEAK GT Center Program at Wheat Ridge High School (WRHS) will be accepting round two applications through April 22 for the 2009-10 school year. The PEAK Program is a new, alternative program for Jeffco gifted high school students with unique needs. The program provides support and individualized options for accelerated learners.
To phase in the new program, upcoming freshmen for the 2009-2010 school year will be the first students to begin the program. Subsequent years will expand to include sophomores in 2010-2011, juniors in 2011-2012 and seniors in 2012-2013.
Application packets include: referral/recommendation forms, student-created portfolio, cognitive ability test results, achievement test results, GPA, and a copy of the applicant’s advanced learning plan (if one already exists). Applications are available on the WRHS Web site (http://sc.jeffco.k12.co.us/education/school/school.php?sectionid=317) and the GT Web site (www.jeffcopublicschools.org/programs/gifted_talented/index.html).
PEAK is currently only offered at Wheat Ridge High School. Students and families are responsible for transportation to and from the school. The PEAK Program is an alternative to neighborhood school options and builds on Jeffco’s elementary and middle school GT Center programs.
