Demolish the old and Open a new High School
When Bear Creek High School students and staff leave for spring break vacation it will be the last time they will attend class in the current school building; they’ll return to a new and improved school after the break.
Bear Creek’s $35.5 million new school is a result of the 2004 voter-approved bond and replaces the old school originally built in the 1960s. The school will now hold 2,000 students and boast 255,381 square feet.
Current BCHS students are invited to tour their new school during Come and Visit Your New School Days on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24.
District staff will begin to transfer the school’s facilities to the new building over spring vacation from Monday, March 30 through Saturday, April 4. BCHS staff will unpack and set up their new classrooms on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7.
Students will report to their new school on Wednesday, April 8.
The demolition of the old BCHS building begins the week of April 13. The process will last about a month, starting with asbestos abatement and demolition from one end of the building to the other.
