Excel Academy tentatively scheduled to reopen on Thursday

In the wake of the new guidelines for schools issued by the Centers for Disease Control today, Excel Academy Charter School in Arvada is tentatively planning to reopen on Thursday, May 7 to staff and students.  The school was closed earlier this week after a student was diagnosed with H1N1 influenza.

The Jefferson County Department of Health and Environment is still in the process of resolving some issues before giving the final okay for the school to open.  However, Excel families were notified today that the school will tentatively open on Thursday.

Families are being asked to follow the health department guidelines for the flu; if children have flu-like symptoms, parents are being asked to keep their children home.

Excel Academy is a Jeffco Public Schools K-8 charter school with 450 students.  Students were able to continue their school work online this week.
