New System to Enhance Parent Communications
Jeffco Public Schools is implementing a new parent notification system – SchoolMessenger – that will allow schools to send important information quickly via phone, e-mail and text messages. SchoolMessenger will be used to send parents messages about school cancellations, attendance, test dates, grading periods, school activities, and more. The new system can send thousands of messages in minutes. Parents can also log in to SchoolMessenger to review any messages sent by the school.
SchoolMessenger, from Reliance Communications, was selected through a competitive bidding process and is expected to save the district approximately $187,000 a year over the previous communications system.
During registration for the 2009-2010 school year parents will be asked to review their emergency contact information provided to the school. Then they can log on to SchoolMessenger at: http://www.jeffcopublicschools.org/schoolmessenger/index.html to activate their account and select message preferences.
