Chatfield High School will be open on Monday, August 24 to all students and staff. The school was evacuated on Friday, August 21, because of unidentified fumes in an area near the cafeteria. Twenty-five students and staff were treated at hospitals on Friday, complaining of headaches, nausea, and respiratory irritation. All were treated and released.
Over the weekend, the district’s environmental services employees checked the air quality in the school and found no trace of any hazardous substances. They have determined that the air in the building is safe and school can reopen on Monday.
