Jeffco’s graduate rate on the rise
According to information released by the Colorado Department of Education, more than 80 percent of Jeffco students are graduating. Jeffco’s 2008-09 graduation rate is 81.3 percent, an increase of 4.2 percentage points over the year before. Additionally, the district’s dropout rate has gone down to 2.3 percent – a decrease of .9 percentage points over the previous year.
“This improvement demonstrates that when all of our schools are focused on supporting every student every day and excellence in instruction, these are the results we get. This is great news and it’s because of the hard work of all of our employees. But we won’t stop our efforts until 100 percent of our students graduate with good choices for their future,” said Jeffco Superintendent Cindy Stevenson.
The graduation rate improvements include these points of pride:
- The Hispanic graduation percentage rate increasing 8.5 percentage points with a 10.2 percentage point increase for females and a 6.4 percentage point increase for males.
- The Black graduation percentage rate increased 2.1 percentage points with a 4.7 percentage point increase for females.
- The Asian graduation percentage rate increased 3.1 percentage points with a .2 percentage point increase for females and 5.1 percentage point increase for males.
- The American Indian graduation percentage rate increased 12.4 percentage points with a 1.0 percentage point increase for females and 22.5 percentage point increase for males.
The dropout rate improvements include these points of pride:
- The district dropout percentage rate shows a .6 percentage point decrease for females and a 1.2 percentage point decrease for males.
- The Hispanic dropout percentage rate decreased 1.7 percentage points with a 1.2 percentage point decrease for females and 2.3 percentage point decrease for males.
- The Black dropout percentage rate decreased 2.1 percentage points with a 2.2 percentage point decrease for females and 1.8 percentage point decrease for males.
- The Asian dropout percentage rate decreased .4 percentage points with a .4 percentage point decrease for females and a .5 percentage point decrease for males.
- The American Indian dropout percentage rate decreased 1.7 percentage points with a .3 percentage point decrease for females and a 3.0 percentage point decrease for males.
