Early Access opens for gifted children under age six

Students under the age of six, who are identified as being highly advanced, are eligible for early  admittance into Jeffco Public Schools. Early Access identifies and serves those children who are evaluated to be exceptional in aptitude/cognitive reasoning, academics, school readiness and motivation.

The application process for Early Access began Wednesday, Jan. 6 and ends Friday, March 26. To access an application, go to; www.jeffcopublicschools.org/programs/gifted_talented.
To be eligible, a child must be 4-years-old by Sunday, August 1 for admittance into kindergarten or must be 5-years-old by Sunday, August 1 for first-grade. A completed application and portfolio must be submitted by Friday, March 26.

The process includes:

  • Completed application form
  • Call Child Find Office at 303-982-7247 to complete intake form over the phone
  • The completed Developmental History form
  • A letter from parent(s) requesting Early Access
  • Parent information form
  • Gifted rating scale completed by pre-school or early childhood teacher
  • Artifact description sheet
  • Child strengths form

 

Schools offering Early Access are Coronado, Hackberry Hill, Kendrick Lakes and Parmalee elementary schools. GT Early Access follows the Jeffco Public Schools Choice Enrollment Process.
