STANDLEY LAKE’S BASEBALL FIELD GETS A MAKEOVER

If you improve it, they will come.

Baseball players of Standley Lake High School have new and improved baseball field facilities to play and practice on this season all because of a community effort. The completion of the improvements will be celebrated on Friday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. at   Standley Lake High’s baseball field, 9300 W. 104th Ave., Westminster, 80021.

The local Standley Lake Gator Diamond Club, Standley Lake’s baseball booster club just completed the 2010 Leftfield Line Improvement Project at the school’s field.  This field improvement project was funded by the booster club and completed with the cooperation and support of Standley Lake High and Jeffco Schools.

Many years of fundraising and months of planning and construction back the project.  The field improvements included a new retaining wall, enlarged workout area, new batting cage, new practice hitting area, new bullpens, enhanced storage facilities and electrical improvements.

The improvements, valued at over $60,000, were made possible through a Gator Diamond Club donation of $20,000 and significant volunteer efforts from parents and players in the baseball program.  Many other companies made generous donations:  Champion Fence, Keene Concrete, Ridge Line Excavating, Boral Best Block, Brannan Companies, Concrete Express, Esparza Electric, Lafarge, Reitz Roofing, RSC Equipment Rental, St. Vrain Erosion Control, Boulder Land Consultants and Tsiouvaras Simmons Holderness.

The generous contributions by local Westminster and Standley Lake companies show how much they care for area youth and high school athletics.
