For more information: In January, the Jefferson County Board of Education voted to close and merge Russell Elementary School with Arvada Middle School to form a new K-8, as part of the district’s ongoing facilities usage review. Russell closes its doors on Friday, May 28, 2010, and students will mark the occasion by releasing school memories in colorful balloons at 2 p.m. at the school, 5150 Allison St. Arvada, 80002. Hundreds attended the school's last open house earlier in the week to get one last look at the classrooms where they learned how to read and write.
