The Virtual Academy uses Blackboard as its online learning platform. More organizations (K-12, higher education, government, and companies) use Blackboard than any other online learning platform worldwide.
Once they are enrolled in Jeffco's 21st Century Virtual Academy, students log into Blackboard to access their online classes.
Teachers communicate frequently with their students, posting assignments, due dates, and assessment information to the Announcements Page. This is the first page a student sees when they enter the course.

Units are broken up into small, easy to understand sessions. Students progress through each session at their own pace.

Each session and unit includes a variety of assignments and activities, ensuring that students receive hands-on experience with the course material.

Students are provided with assessments and pre-assessments in each unit, to ensure they understand the material as they progress through the course.

Students can communicate with their teachers and with each other using a variety of course tools, including discussion boards, blogs, journals, e-mail, group pages, and more.
