Since then she has also taught at Horizon High School in Thornton, at Colorado Virtual Academy, and completed a Master's degree in education. She originally considered teaching as a career when she could not narrow her interest in science enough to fit most job descriptions! Teaching has allowed her to share her enthusiasm for biology, earth science and chemistry. She has been committed to helping students grow as learners by seeking options in education. She found early in her career that a "one size fits all" approach to education is ineffective and a great disservice to most students. + Ryan Self - Instructional Technology Coordinator/Social Studies
Phillip Noble teaches Special Education for Jeffco's 21st Century Online Academy. Prior to pursuing a teaching career, Phil was a marginal student at best during his high school career. He did graduate and ultimately found himself as a student in the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Despite a college career of questionable antics and fraternity pranks, Phil earned a B.A. in Business Administration. He pursued a twenty two year career in not-for-profit management with the Young Men's Christian Association as well as other not-for-profit organizations. Phil has lived and worked in Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Colorado. Upon meeting Phil and beyond the usual first impression, you would be surprised to find out he is a creative, comical and artistically talented man of the world. His limited but well received "alternative" works of art would surprise even the most skeptical of critics. Phil is a world traveler (well, kind of…….he hasn't been to Australia or Asia…..yet) with quite the collection of ports of entry in his passport. Regardless, he considers his native Texas as the "greatest country in the history of mankind" (please remember Texas was a Republic until 1845).
Upon retiring from non-profit management, Phil was watching a late night telecast of "Animal House" on cable TV. A brief shot of the statute of Emil Faber panned across the screen with the quote, "Knowledge is Good". An epiphany immediately occurred and Phil decided he needed to become a teacher. Intensive study began at Metro State College where he eventually earned his professional teaching license in Special Education. Phil is also certified in elementary education as well as highly qualified in both Language Arts and Mathematics. The 2013-14 school year is his 10th year teaching with Jefferson County and 2nd year teaching with Jeffco's 21st Century Virtual Academy. Prior to teaching with Jefferson County, Phil taught one year of a combined middle/high school level in a residential treatment center.
In addition to his public school experience, Phil has five years' experience teaching adult education in computer applications, business/career development and mathematics. Actually, Phil has over 210 college credit hours which would probably qualify him for a PhD. True to his high school education; he just never got it together enough to pursue anything beyond where he is today. Phil is married to the fetching Jane E. Moreland (Noble) of 32 years. She is a Physical Education Teacher at Westridge Elementary. He has two sons, Austin, an Air Force Academy graduate, Captain and pilot of the KC-135 and Travis, a University of Colorado Graduate and Chemical Engineer. Finally, Phil is an accomplished musician (piano),listens exclusively to Johnny Monsoon (The Sound of Trance), is the number one fan of Duck Dynasty, can ride a unicycle down the stairs and runs with scissors, often and with exceptional skill.
