Approved Exchange Agencies

Study Abroad Programs

Jeffco Public Schools does not offer its own Study Abroad program for high school students, but Study Abroad opportunities do exist. Interested students should contact one of Jeffco's approved Exchange Agencies, listed to the right.

Approved Exchange Agencies

The listed agencies on the right have been approved by Jefferson County Schools to place international students in the district's high schools. All Agencies must reapply with Jeffco for approval each year. Read More.

These Agencies are also approved by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), a private, not-for-profit organization which establishes standards for, monitors, and disseminates information about reputable international travel, education and exchange programs.

CSIET's annual publication, the CSIET Advisory List contains information about International Exchange programs. The Advisory List is annually distributed to all the high schools in the United States, and hundreds of teachers, parents and youth seeking exchange learning opportunities.

Non-Approved Exchange Agencies

Lakewood Sister Cities Exchange with Australia and Rotary Youth Exchange are not approved by CSIET. However, they have been approved by Jefferson County Public Schools, according to District Regulation JFABB-R:

  1. The program must be designated by the United States Department of State as a secondary student exchange visitor program, and must currently be in good standing with the United States Department of State.
  2. The program must be approved by and in good standing with the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET).
  3. Jefferson County civic organizations may be exempt from numbers one and two above but will be expected to comply with all other requirements which apply to international exchange organizations.
