Application Information
Our Fall Application Process is currently closed. For Fall applicants notification of acceptance status will be sent the week of January 4, 2010.
The Spring Application opens January 4, 2010; deadline for all forms (Application, Parent Perception, and Teacher Perception) is February 26, 2010. Applicants who are 6 years of age by October 1, 2010 are eligible to apply for the 2010/11 application process. Spring applicants will be considered for any openings at Center sites for 2010-11 school year.
If your child is already in an Elementary Center Program and would like to continue in the Middle Center Program next year, you must re-apply. You will need to submit a Middle School Center Application, as well as the Parent Perception, Teacher Perception Forms and must take the CogAT and NNAT (if your student has taken the test in the last 2 years you may mail or fax the results to GT Office).
Complete the following for Elementary and Middle School:
- Elementary and Middle School Applications are due February 26, 2010
- Parent Perception Form are due by February 26, 2010
- Teacher Perception Form due by February 26, 2010
- If your student has taken the NNAT or CogAT in the last calendar year please send the test data to the GT Department, 809 Quail St, Building #1, Lakewood, CO 80215.
Testing information for Elementary and Middle School:
- Testing on Saturday, March 13, 2010 for current 1st grade through 7th grade. The testing takes approximately 3 hours.
- Kindergarteners will test on both Saturday, March 13, 2010 and Saturday, March 20, 2010. The testing time for Kindergarten is approximately 2 hours for each session.
Information will be sent out to all applicants by Thursday, March 4, 2010 with testing date(s), time(s), and location. Notification of acceptance status will be sent out by Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
GT Center Schools follow Choice Enrollment process; transportation is not provided to Center location and is the responsibility of the parent.

The GT high school center program is currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year for incoming ninth graders. The First Round due date is December 2, 2009 and the Second Round due date is April 21, 2010. PEAK applications WILL be accepted in the spring and summer on a space available basis and for wait list status. Please include a completed Jeffco Choice Enrollment form (unless the applicant already resides in the WR articulation area).
For any applicants who do not have cognitive testing data within the last three years, a testing date can be arranged by calling the PEAK Information Line at 303-982-8650.
Notification of acceptance status for Round One applicants will be sent out in January. Round Two applicants will be informed of their application status within 2 - 3 weeks of the receipt of their materials, all receiving notification no later than May 2010.
The Cognitive Ability screening scores which will be considered by the Gifted and Talented Selection Committees will consist of CogAT and NNAT scores for most applicants. You may provide the test results you already have if they are no more than 2 years old. We will accept comparable data which measures the equivalent of these tests, such as the WISC IV, DAS, Stanford- Binet, OLSAT, etc. Both the CogAT and the NNAT will be provided free of charge. If your son/daughter has taken the NNAT or CogAT in the last calendar year, please send in the data. Please be aware if a child takes the same cognitive test within a 12 month period the test is invalid and will not be accepted.
For those currently in kindergarten through 7th grade: If the applicant does not have recent Cognitive Ability data, apply online by September 18, 2009; testing will be held on October 10, 2009. Testing session information will be sent the week of September 28th, and will include testing date, time and location.
For those currently in 8th grade: Please call 982-8650 to arrange a testing time in October or November. Testing times will be confirmed by phone with the program coordinator and will take place during selected mornings at Wheat Ridge High School. (These applications are due December 2, 2009.)
