Application Information


Fall Admission Procedures for Elementary and Middle Center School:

Fall Application is open from mid July until September 23, 2011. Applicants who are 6 years of age by October 1, 2011 are eligible to apply for the 2012/13 application process. Applicants will be considered for any openings at Center sites for 2012/13 school year. If your child is already in an Elementary Center Program and would like to continue in the Middle Center Program next year, you must re-apply.

If your child is already in an Elementary Center Program and would like to continue in the Middle Center Program next year, you must re-apply. You will need to submit a Middle School Center Application, as well as the Parent Perception, Teacher Perception Forms and must take the CogAT and NNAT (if your student has taken the test in the last 2 years you may mail or fax the results to GT Office 303-982-0469).
Complete the following for Elementary and Middle School:

Checklist for GT Center Applications

  • Complete Online Application
  • Parent Completes 15 Traits of the Gifted by September 23, 2011
  • Request your son / daughters teacher to complete 15 Traits of the Gifted by November 18, 2011.
  • Complete the CogAT / NNAT testing (see below for testing details)
    • SAVE – THE – DATE for Testing
      • Saturday, October 15, 2011 for 1st Grade through 7th Grade
      • BOTH – Saturday, October 15th  and Saturday, October 22nd  for Kindergarteners
    • If your student has taken the NNAT or CogAT in the last calendar they cannot test again and GT Office will access the test scores to add to the application.
Testing information for Elementary and Middle School:
  • Testing on Saturday, October 15, 2011 for current 1st grade through 7th grade.   The testing takes approximately 3 hours.
  • Kindergarteners will test on both Saturday, October 15, 2011 and Saturday, October 22, 2011.  The testing time for Kindergarten is approximately 2 hours for each session.

Information will be sent out to all applicants the week October 3, 2011 with testing date(s), time(s), and location.  

Notification of acceptance status will be sent out by the week of January 3, 2012.

GT Center Schools follow Choice Enrollment process; transportation is not provided to Center location and is the responsibility of the parent.

The GT high school center program is currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year for incoming ninth graders.  The First Round due date is November 30, 2010 and the Second Round due date is February 25, 2010.  PEAK applications WILL be accepted in the spring and summer on a space available basis and for wait list status.  Please include a completed Jeffco Choice Enrollment form (unless the applicant already resides in the WR articulation area). 

For any applicants who do not have cognitive testing data within the last three years, a testing date can be arranged by calling the PEAK Information Line at 303-982-8650.

Notification of acceptance status for Round One applicants will be sent out in January.  Round Two applicants will be informed of their application status within 2 - 3 weeks of the receipt of their materials.

Gifted Center Admission Testing information

We will accept comparable data which measures the equivalent of these tests, such as the WISC IV, DAS, Stanford- Binet, OLSAT, etc. Both the CogAT and the NNAT will be provided free of charge. If your son/daughter has taken the NNAT or CogAT in the last calendar year, please send in the data. Please be aware if a child takes the same cognitive test within a 12 month period the test is invalid and will not be accepted.

For those currently in 8th grade: Please call 982-8650 to arrange a testing time in October or November.  Testing times will be confirmed by phone with the program coordinator and will take place during selected mornings at Wheat Ridge High School. In addition to two Saturdays in October and February.
