JeffcoNet Academy

A “Hybrid” Approach to Distance Learning

  • JeffcoNet Academy distinguishes itself from other online learning opportunities by combining the flexible schedule of online classes and the supportive structure of weekly in-person class meetings. This hybrid approach has been shown to be a highly effective introduction to online education for high-school-aged students, who may not be ready for a purely “virtual” learning experience. As they progress though our program, students gradually become more self-directed and proactive in their own education; they leave high school better prepared for college coursework, for their careers, and for life-long learning.
  • JeffcoNet Academy provides an online educational environment, with support from parents and licensed teaching staff, using Jefferson-County aligned standards-based curriculum. It is a full-time program in which students complete all of the coursework required to earn their high school diplomas, including Physical Education. Typical class sizes range from 22-25.

Our counselors play an integral part in our program. They provide guidance to help our students and their families in setting goals, as well as, provide post-secondary planning. Please contact them if ever you have a question or concern.

Our Teaching Staff

  • Our teachers are available for help by phone or in-person from 8:00am-3:00pm each day; alternatively, students and parents may leave questions for teachers via voicemail and email 24 hours a day. We strive to keep all students, parents, and teachers more closely connected than they would be in a traditional high school setting.

Student Profile

  • JeffcoNet Academy students come from diverse backgrounds and pursue many academic and career paths as they work independently with parental support. Students who are unable to attend a traditional high school because of health issues, child care responsibilities, or restrictive work schedules enjoy the flexibility that our class schedule provides. Other students who have not succeeded in traditional high schools appreciate the high level of student-teacher interaction made possible by our small class sizes. Still others value the freedom to pursue far-ranging interests afforded by our partnerships with Red Rocks Community College, Warren Tech, and local employers.
  • Prospective students must be in grades 9-12, may not be older than 18 years of age at time of enrollment, and must have daily access to a computer with an Internet connection.

Parental Involvement

  • Parents/guardians of students in JeffcoNet Academy are expected to participate in their students’ education. They should monitor their students’ attendance, both “virtual” and in-person, and contact teachers and/or administrators with their questions and concerns.
  • Parents/guardians must attend all regularly-scheduled conferences.
