Jeffco Public Schools continues the Budgeting for Results ( BFR ) process to ensure that budgeting supports our commitment to student achievement. The Board of Education's four expected results are:
Fifteen BFR proposals are under consideration for the 2007-2008 school year; for more on the BFR process and to see the detailed proposals, please visit our BFR Web page. District cabinet and a Stakeholders Panel (made up of community and school members) have reviewed the proposals and ranked them. The Stakeholders Panel listed its top four in this order: Proposal # 122 – Progress Monitoring Pilot Proposal # 30 – Additional Vocational Education and Alternative Programs Proposal # 113 - Alameda Area Renewal Project Proposal # 123 – Systemic and Focused Professional Development K-12 The Board of Education is asking for public input on the BFR process and proposals on Saturday, March 17. How much detail would you like on district budget information? Update on legislative bills that may impact education Several important bills are currently in front of the Colorado General Assembly that affect education. School district seeks public input about school year calendar The Jeffco Public Schools Calendar Committee is asking for input as it begins the process of developing a school-wide calendar for a three-year time frame beginning with the 2008-09 school year. Anyone who wishes to provide the district with feedback about the school year calendar is encouraged to contact any Jeffco Public School principal, or send an e-mail to calendar_committee@jeffco.k12.co.us. Celebration of Excellence moved to fall 2007 The third annual Key Communicators Celebration of Excellence has been moved to the fall. The purpose of the annual Celebration of Excellence is to recognize and feature performances from some of the Jeffco Public Schools' most promising students and to honor outstanding students, teachers, staff and community leaders who have excelled in academics, athletics and the arts. Nineteen Jeffco schools earn John Irwin School of Excellence awards The Colorado Department of Education has given 19 Jefferson County Public Schools the "John Irwin School of Excellence" award for ranking in the top 8 percent of state schools in overall academic performance based on the 2006 School Accountability Reports . The John Irwin Award, named after a former state legislator, is part of the Colorado School Awards Program created in 2000 by the Colorado General Assembly to recognize the highest-performing and most-improved public schools in the state, as determined by the School Accountability Reports . The reports rate schools on academic performance and growth based on standardized test results. 2006 John Irwin Award winners
March 2007 Construction Fact Sheet School construction, funded from 2004 bonds, continues on-time and on-budget. To keep accurately informed, and to help inform others, please download and print the March District Construction Update fact sheet The district also encourages all Key Communicators to watch and share the 2005-2010 Capital Improvement Program video. The video (requires Windows Media Player) includes an overview of the $400 million construction program, interviews and current footage of several of the district's largest projects.
