Construction Overview

In November 2004, Jefferson County voters approved a bond election providing Jeffco Public Schools with $323.8 million for building, renovating and repairing school facilities. This was the first time voters had approved increased funding for county school buildings since 1999.

Arvada WestWith the guidance of the Citizens' Capital Oversight Committee, the district developed a list of 440
capital improvement projects scheduled to be completed over the next six years.

Designed to accommodate 2000 students,
the new 162,000 square foot Arvada West High School will replace the original school built in 1963. The new building will have an auxiliary and main gymnasium with locker rooms, auditorium,music rooms, administration, cafeteria/commons, kitchen and core classrooms for math, English, special education, business, arts and wood technology. The athletic fields, band practice field
and tennis courts will be relocated within the site.
