Construction Overview

In November 2004, Jefferson County voters approved a bond election providing Jeffco Public Schools with $323.8 million for building, renovating and repairing school facilities. This was the first time voters had approved increased funding for county school buildings since 1999.

Bear Creek High SchoolWith the guidance of the Citizens' Capital Oversight Committee, the district developed a list of 440 capital improvement projects scheduled to be completed
over the next six years.

A new 2000-student Bear Creek High School will be constructed on the existing approximately 40 acres of land near the intersection of Kipling Parkway and West Dartmouth Place. Dartmouth Place has been re-routed
to accommodate the new K-8 to the north and to accommodate the new high school site entrance. The new school will be approximately 252,000 square feet
in size and will include a new main entrance with a plaza, natural daylighting, new parking lots and larger student pick-up and drop-off areas, new security features and new athletic fields and common areas.
