| Additional Information |
| At West Woods we are creating a safe learning environment where children and adults are treated with respect. All children are expected to learn and meet or exceed the standards established by the state and the Jeffco Public Schools District. An atmosphere is created to foster a learning environment where students can learn in a cooperative way, model for each other, learn responsibility, respect a diversity of learning styles and to be an active participant in their education. Technology plays an important part in helping students learn. Computers in each classroom and 28 in the computer lab are networked to each other and to the library. Laser discs and CD-ROM technology make learning come alive. A variety of learning activities are used in large and small group settings to help students be successful. An eclectic approach is used to teach reading with children being immersed in literature as they are being taught a strong foundation in skills. |
