District Health Advisory Council
The District Health Advisory Council (DHAC) is required by the district wellness policy. The DHAC oversees and revises district wellness policy while providing collaboration across areas of school wellness.
Purpose of the DHAC
- Evaluate and monitor the district’s progress in implementing the student wellness policy goals.
- Provide recommendations on revisions to the wellness policy and regulations, as the council deems necessary or appropriate.
- Serve as an information resource to schools.
- Support the development and implementation of school wellness goals.
- Facilitate connections among district departments, stakeholders and community organizations
- Elevate what’s working.
- Identify new opportunities.
- Show or evaluate success.
- Galvanize support for policy and culture change that will continue to move Jeffco Public Schools along the Healthy Schools continuum.
- Share information on training, programs, case studies, success stories, federal, state and local policies as well as other existing resources.
District Health Advisory Council Meetings
The DHAC meets as a 20-30-person group three times a school year. A smaller steering committee also meets between the larger meetings and is primarily for district-level department representation.
