Phase I Recommendation

Regional Opportunities for Thriving Schools Phase I

On August 25, 2022 the Jeffco Public Schools staff made a recommendation to the Board of Education for school closures and consolidations for the 2023-24 school year. 

The Board voted on this recommendation on November 10, 2022.

Phase I After-Action Review

An after-action review was completed for Phase I to identify process changes and improvements for any future closures and consolidations of schools.

Criteria used for Phase I elementary school consolidations

The criteria used to consolidate schools were that on August 15, 2022, according to data from EnrollJeffco, the school:

  • Had enrollment of less than 220 K-2, K-5, K-6 students OR
  • Is using 45% or less of the capacity of its facility AND
  • Had an elementary school less than 3.5 miles away that can serve the students from the closing school in the current articulation area.

Consolidated schools for 2023-2024 school year

  • Emory Elementary School → Lasley Elementary School
    • (Emory Center Program → Rose Stein Elementary School)

  • Peck Elementary School → Secrest Elementary School
  • Thomson Elementary School → Swanson Elementary School
  • Peiffer Elementary School → Kendallvue Elementary School
  • Colorow Elementary School → Powderhorn Elementary School
  • Green Mountain Elementary School → Foothills Elementary School
    • (Green Mountain Center Program → Belmar Elementary School)
  • Molholm Elementary School → Lumberg Elementary School
  • Glennon Heights Elementary School → Belmar School of Integrated Arts
    • (Glennon Center Program → Hutchinson Elementary School)
  • Parr Elementary School → Little Elementary School
  • Sheridan Green Elementary School → Ryan Elementary School
  • Witt Elementary School → Lukas Elementary School
  • New Classical Academy at Vivian Elementary School → Stober Elementary School
    • (Vivian Center Program → Maple Grove Elementary School)
  • Wilmore-Davis Elementary School → Stevens Elementary School
  • Kullerstrand Elementary School → Prospect Valley Elementary School
  • Campbell Elementary School → Fremont Elementary School or Vanderhoof Elementary School or Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center 2023-24. There is existing demand for ECE in the area and no current programs at Fremont or Vanderhoof Elementary Schools.
    • (Campbell Center Program → Vanderhoof Elementary School)

  • Campbell Elementary School will become an ECE Center in 2023-24, home to 10 Preschool Classrooms

Center programs are listed only if they are different from the receiving school for all students.

Consolidated schools for 2024-2025 school year

  • Bergen Meadow Elementary and Preschool K-2 will combine with the Bergen Valley Elementary School to become PK-5.
