On November, 11, 2022, Jeffco's Board of Education (Board) voted to close 15 schools at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year, and one school at the end of the 2023-24 school year. Since that time Jeffco has been working to support impacted staff in securing positions for the 2023-24 school year and working with impacted families to find the right school for their student(s).
Support for Impacted Staff
- Open houses at all receiving schools
- Resume writing and interview workshops
- Staffing events for JCEA (educators) and JESPA (education support professionals) members
Support for Impacted Families
- Designated Enrollment Specialists worked with families at closing schools to support them through Round 1 of EnrollJeffco
- Events are being held for families and staff at closing and receiving schools to get to know one another and build their new community together
Additional Updates
This month the Board reviewed a process for disposition of surplus district properties. On January 30, information about this process will be published on the district website. On the agenda for the March 1 Board study session, district staff will present the first property or properties for surplus consideration. View the presentation.
