As students start back to school for the 2021-2022 school year, six grades will do so with TechForEd instructional devices. These devices are part of a four-year plan to create technology-enabled classrooms in fifth through twelfth grades that prepare students to thrive in a digitally connected world in alignment with the Jeffco Generations Strategic Plan.

2021-2022 fifth- and ninth-graders in neighborhood and option schools will receive their new devices as a part of this program. Students in grades 6,7,10 and 11 have already received TechForEd devices when they were in grade 5 or 9.

Cost Benefits

  • Students receive a high-quality device and protective case for less than they would have paid to purchase the same device on their own
    • Estimated cost of the Chromebook option with a case is $304; estimated cost of the iPad option with a case is $358
    • Estimated cost of the core set of digital instruction tools each student receives on their devices is approximately $17

  • Technology fees are standardized across the district. The Tech for Ed program funds 5th-12th grade device.

  • Equity: Tech for Ed provides equitable devices and programming for their students

  • Device Consistency: Reduces time spent on device management and troubleshooting issues in the classroom; devices can be used at any school within the district

  • Connectivity: All devices will automatically connect to Jeffco's Internal wifi

  • Added Security: A security filter will be installed on all devices for use at school and home

  • Testing: Students will take state-mandated tests on their own devices

  • Convenience: Students will be assigned a different device when theirs is broken and in for repair
