Safe Student Summit

This session will teach you how to recognize, respond to and prevent situations that could harm children. You'll learn how to recognize when a child is uncomfortable or upset, how to support them if needed and how to create safe environments. The session will also discuss how to think carefully about the time children spend with adults, to help ensure those interactions are always safe and positive.

This session will help parents stay connected with their children's online activities to keep them safe. We'll discuss social media, screen time, online safety, privacy and how to have open talks about using the internet in a responsible and healthy way.

This session will support you in creating a safe environment for your children by teaching you how to recognize potential warning signs and help children understand and establish healthy boundaries.

This session is about fostering open communication and digital wellness for families. You'll learn about setting healthy boundaries online, using parental controls effectively and finding helpful resources. You'll also discover how to have age-appropriate conversations with your kids about social media, gaming and online safety, including how to handle cyberbullying and other potential risks.

You'll learn about the science behind brain development, why teenagers sometimes seek new experiences and how parents/guardians can provide support. You'll also discover school and community resources and explore how families can play a key role in teen safety and well-being.

This two-hour session will teach you how to be a helper for those who might be going through a challenging time. You'll learn how to recognize when someone needs support, have caring conversations and access helpful community resources to offer them immediate help and professional support.

PorchLight is a special place in Jefferson County that helps families and individuals facing domestic abuse. Learn about the ways PorchLight supports our community, including helpful resources for those dealing with challenges at home, in relationships or online. You'll discover how we can all work together to create a safer community and how to find help when needed. This session is open to high school students, parents and anyone interested in learning how to support their community.
