Educator Effectiveness Evaluation
Jeffco Public Schools has a rich tradition of attracting and supporting the most effective teachers and administrators in the classroom and at every school. It’s a tradition of excellence in alignment with educator effectiveness legislation in Colorado.
Senate Bill 191, also known as the Educator Effectiveness Act, is about quality instruction. The act requires that 30% of an educator’s evaluation is based on the impact they have on student learning growth. The act changed the way principals and teachers are evaluated, with the goal of improving student learning by continuously supporting educators’ professional growth.
Areas of Evaluation
The Educator Effectiveness Law requires all Colorado school districts to evaluate all licensed staff in the areas of professional practice and student outcomes.
Professional practice is considered classroom performance as measured by observers and using a standardized Jeffco rubric based on specific roles, or a Colorado Department of Education rubric for counselors, occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists.
The measures of student learning are a collection of data that is calculated in two areas, with specific distribution of combined measurement totals customized by and for Jeffco.
