For Students

EMS StudentsReady to take your high school experience to the next level? Wondering what career matches your interests, skills and abilities?

These are questions that are hopefully being asked of you from your counselor, your teachers and your parents. Planning for your career NOW does not mean that you have it all figured out; in fact, planning is just the first step.

Through these resources on the Jeffco Career Links Web Page, our goal is to partner with you in learning and understanding more about yourself and those career pathways that would be a good fit.

While in high school, there are numerous opportunities for you to gain career awareness, career preparedness and finally, career training with a company in your local community and beyond. Your first steps are to really think about what you like to do, what are you good at doing and is there a market for that as a career. Sign into your Naviance account and take a few interest surveys. Next, take some time to talk with your parents or other adults about why they are in their careers, it might surprise you. Finally, set up a meeting with your academic counselor or teacher to discuss the options available for you and to review your ICAP (Individual Career and Academic Plan).

Within Jeffco Public Schools, the opportunities are endless in helping you discover your “passion toward a paycheck”.

Some of those include:

  • Career and Technical Education Courses
  • CareerWise Apprenticeships
  • Industry Exploration Days
  • Internships
  • Job Shadow Days
  • Mentors
  • Paid Work Experience
