“It’s Going to be Okay…I Promise”: The Dilemma of Parenting Neurodivergent Kids in a World Beyond Our Certainty and Control

It’s important to us as parents to ensure that our children feel safe and secure. However, the past three years have constantly reminded us that we cannot guarantee safety or control outcomes. This is a challenge for all human beings, but particularly so for those who experience the myriad sensitivities and intensities of neurodivergence. Join Jenny Hecht to explore how we can free ourselves from the myths of certainty and control in a way that will benefit us and our children, and enable us to better navigate life’s uncertainties.

Jenny Hecht is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, with a focus on supporting the specific social-emotional needs of neurodivergent individuals.

Jenny’s work has extended to consultation and support for educational professionals who work with this population. She has presented and served on expert panels at numerous conferences and had the distinct honor of serving as a keynote speaker at the 2023 CAGT Conference.

Jenny lives in Lafayette, CO with her husband, Ethan and 17-year-old daughter, Emma. Visit www.jennyhecht.com for additional information.
