1) How much will it cost for my child to ride the bus?

**Due to COVID-19 social distancing and cleaning requirements, we will not be running the shuttle buses between schools, accepting space available requests for choice enrolled students, or students living within walking distance.

 

Neighborhood Schools

  • All students who ride the bus to their neighborhood school will be charged $150 per child, per year.
  • Half-day kindergarten passes will be available for $75 per child, per year.
  • Part-Time passes to students’ neighborhood school will be available for $80 per child, per year. Part Time status means a student is eligible to ride the bus 5 out of 10 times per week or ride full time every other week. This can include riding only in the morning, riding only in the afternoon or a combination of morning and afternoon that does not exceed 5 out of 10 rides. This can be used as a backup plan for students that drive themselves. To request this option click here.

**Students living within walking distance (Elementary – 1 mile; Middle – 2 miles; High School – 2½ miles) may request a bus pass to an existing stop for $200 per child, per year depending on space available.This service is currently not available.

**Shuttle for Neighborhood Schools: (Bradford North/Bradford South, Bergen Meadows/Bergen Valley, Golden /Bell, Evergreen Middle/Evergreen High School, Conifer/West Jeff Middle). Shuttles will cost $75 per child, per year. No part time pass available for a shuttle. This service is currently not available.

**Choice Enrollment This service is currently not available.

  • **Choice enrolled students may request a bus pass to an existing stop for $200 per       child, per year depending on space available. This service is currently not available.

    **Part-Time passes are available for choice enrolled students. Part Time status means you are eligible to ride the bus 5 out of 10 times per week or ride full time every other week. This can include: riding only in the morning, riding only in the afternoon or a mixture of morning and afternoon that doesn't exceed 5 out of 10 rides. This can be used as a backup plan for students that drive themselves. You may purchase a part time pass to an existing stop for $110 per child, per year depending on space available. This service is currently not available.

Option Schools: (Brady, D’Evelyn, Dennison, Free Horizon, Jefferson County Open School, Long View, McLain, Warren Tech North and Central)

  • Students who attend option schools will pay $200 per child, per year to ride the bus.
  •  
  • Half-day kindergarten passes will be available for $100 per child, per year. 
  • Part-Time passes are available for Option Schools. Part Time status means you are eligible to ride the bus 5 out of 10 times per week or ride full time every other week. This can include: riding only in the morning, riding only in the afternoon or a mixture of morning and afternoon that doesn't exceed 5 out of 10 rides. This can be used as a backup plan for students that drive themselves. You may purchase a part time pass to an existing stop for $110 per child, per year depending on space available. **If a student does not ride the bus, they are not required to pay the fee.


  • Shuttle for Option Schools: (Dennison/D 'Evelyn) Shuttles will cost $100 per child, per year. No part time pass available for a shuttle. To request this option click here.

 

2) How do I pay the bus fee?

Transportation fees may be paid through the online Jeffco Student Fee Payment inside Jeffco Connect, (fees will not be reflected until after July 27, 2016) or can be paid at the school. Bus passes will be distributed by transportation personnel.


3) My family has applied and qualified for free and reduced lunch but I received a notice telling me I need to pay a bus fee. Do I need to pay the fee?

No, families who qualify for free and reduced lunch do not pay the bus fee but must provide approval letter to the school for their fee to be waived.


4) My child is a special needs student – do I need to pay the bus fee?

If your student has an IEP and is eligible for transportation as a related service, you do not have to pay.


5) I have not applied for a waiver nor made payment for the bus fees. Will my child still be able to ride the bus?

There will be a two-week grace period for parents to complete the registration process and pay their bus fees.


6) What is the refund policy?

All refunds must be approved by Transportation. Please contact Sandy Gallegos Transportation Analyst at 303-982-2562.

  • Refunds for first semester will not be issued after October 1, 2016 or for second semester after March 1, 2017.

7. My child has moved to a Jeffco school mid-year; do we get a pro-rated fee?

Students who relocate into Jeffco after October 31 or April 30 do not have to pay fees until the next semester. Prior to those dates, they will owe the $75/$100 fee for the current semester.


8) My student has moved from one Jeffco school to another Jeffco school. Will my bus pass still work?

Yes, bus passes are valid district wide unless you change from a neighborhood school to an option school in which case you would have to pay an additional $25 per semester because option schools have a higher fee.
