Kindergarten enrollment takes place in December of the year prior to when your student will begin kindergarten (school starts in August). When that time comes, parents/guardians will go to EnrollJeffco to learn about Jeffco's many schools, and use EnrollJeffco to pick a school.
Most Jeffco neighborhood elementary schools offer full-day, but confirm with a particular school first. These kindergarten programs provide developmentally appropriate education for five and six year-olds. Review the Curriculum Guides to see what Jeffco kindergartners learn.
Visit the website of the school you are interested in for kindergarten registration details. Some schools offer parent information nights as well to explore the school environment and meet school staff. You can use the Select a School menu in the black bar in the top left of our website.

Registration and enrollment
Kindergarten Enrollment: in December prior to the year your child will start school. For example, December, 2020 for starting in August, 2021.
Students must be five or six years old on or before October 1 of the school year to enter kindergarten. Some gifted children may be granted early entrance to kindergarten.
Enrollment for kindergarten begins in December for the following school year. Check with your local school for details.
Forms required for registration (registration happens AFTER enrollment):
- Birth Certificate, affidavit, or other reliable document
- Proof of residency within district boundaries
- Immunization Record
During the enrollment and registration periods, these forms should be provided to the school where your student will be enrolled.

House Bill 19-1262 - State Funding for Full-Day Kindergarten.
