Jeffco’s Strategic Plan

This session will give an overview of the district and the Jeffco Generations vision, then focus on Jeffco’s Strategic Plan. Learn how the vision is being put into practice, and how success is being measured.

Safety and Security in Our Schools

Presenters: John McDonald, Executive Director of School Safety & Security and Jeff Pierson, Director of Safe School Environments

What do we do to keep schools safe? This session gives an overview of the programs and practices we have in place to address school safety, and possible future school safety investments.

Mental Health & Health Services Supports in Schools

Presenters: Adric Arndt, Director of Student Services; Dawn Loge, Director Special Education; and Julie Wilken, Director Health Services

Learn how schools care for the physical and mental health needs of students so they can fully access academic opportunities.

Career Connections

Learn about how Jeffco is supporting students in accessing career pathways in Jeffco schools. These pathways include experiential opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships. School Finance: Understanding How Jeffco Public Schools are Funded

Presenters: Kathleen Askelson, Chief Financial Officer and Nicole Stewart, Budget and Treasury Director

This presentation breaks down how public schools are funded in Colorado – the funding formula set annually by legislation per the School Finance Act, pupil counts and the BS (Budget Stabalization)Factor to how local share impacts state share, the difference between bonds, mill levies and mill levy overrides and where the pot money really goes. You will also learn about oversight, accountability, transparency, the budgeting process using the School Based Budgeting (SBB) and Budgeting For Outcomes (BFO) models, and resources to help you talk dollars and sense around Jeffco’s finances.

Presenters: Matt Flores, Chief Academic Officer; Jef Fugita, Executive Director Curriculum & Instruction; and Grant Euler, Transform the Task Coordinator

When you ask your kids “What did you learn today?” would you like more than a one word answer?  Let’s learn together about transforming student learning experiences. Also in this session, participants will experience firsthand how students engage with standardized tests and make connections between our Jeffco Generations Skills and student achievement.

Classroom Technology to Transform Learning

Presenter: Mary Beth Bazzanella, Director, Educational Technology

Join us during this hands on session to explore some of the technology used in Jeffco classrooms to transform learning including Google Expeditions, Spheros, Bloxels, and more.
