Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)

Required Testing Grades and Contents

• Students take English language arts and math assessments in grades three through eight.
• Students take science assessments in grades five, eight, and 11.
• Students take social studies assessments in grades four and seven by a rotating sample set of students.

Length of Assessment

• English Language Arts: The unit lengths vary between 90-110 minutes depending on grade level. 
• Mathematics: The unit length is 65 minutes. 
• Science and Social Studies: The unit length is 60-80 minutes depending on grade level.

The CMAS assessment for the 2024-25 school year will be administered from April 7 - April 25. High schools only have a choice of a three week testing window which will either be March 31 - April 18 or April 7 - April 25. Please talk with your child's school to find out the specific days in which your child will be tested.
