Colorado Alternate Assessment (CoAlt)

The Colorado Alternate Assessment (CoAlt) and Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) are the alternate state assessments for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) who do not take Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) and are working toward Extended Evidence Outcomes (EEO).

CoAlt DLM (Dynamic Learning Maps) assesses student’s abilities to access the alternate standards in the content areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics. CoAlt Science measures a student’s ability to access the alternate standards in Science.

All of the assessments are given to the students in a one-on-one setting, they are untimed, text is read out loud, can be given in several short sessions, and it allows individualized supports that the student needs in order to be successful.

Length of assessment: Each content area assessment contains 6-9 sessions which take  between 5-15 minutes to complete. The CoAlt Science assessment takes a total of 35 minutes that can be completed over multiple sessions or days.
