Theatre teachers in Jeffco are dedicated to providing students with opportunities to realize their vision while developing critical-thinking skills, finding themselves and their place in this world, and creating experiences that last a lifetime.

Content is not the sole focus of theatre education in Jeffco. The district is committed to providing students with a well-rounded education and opportunities to participate in experiential learning through theatre education.

Why Is Theatre Education Important?

In 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act classified the arts, including theatre, as core subjects. Researchers have found that sustained learning in theatre correlates to greater success in math and reading, and students from more challenging socioeconomic backgrounds see the greatest benefits.

Participation in theatre education enables students to embrace the full range of the human experience and develop myriad skills applicable to a variety of future opportunities.

Visit Jeffco School Finder for more information about how schools provide theatre opportunities.

Support Jeffco Theatre Arts

Jeffco supports students to develop as artists. With community support, Jeffco Schools Foundation can ensure students can continue to share their art.

Theatre Curriculum

The theatre curriculum demonstrates what Jeffco students are studying by grade level as they progress through the school year. This course of study is based on Colorado Academic Standards developed by the Colorado Department of Education.

The curriculum guides identify the courses that are commonly taught at these grade levels. Courses can be adjusted based on the differentiated needs of individual students. For specific
