International Student Exchange
International Student Exchange in Jeffco
Each year, high school students from countries around the globe come for a semester or a full year of study in Jeffco Public Schools. Jeffco accepts students with either J-1 or F-1 visas. Students who wish to study in Jeffco on a J-1 visa must come through an approved international student exchange agency. Students who wish to study in Jeffco on an F-1 visa should contact the International Student Exchange Coordinator for further information and the F-1 application package.
Important Information for Agencies
In order to place students in Jeffco, all agencies must apply annually and be accepted for inclusion on the district's list of approved agencies for the following academic school year. The agencies currently listed are approved for the current school year.
Agencies and host parents should not contact any school until the International Student Exchange Coordinator has signed and returned a permission slip to enroll form to the agency. Violation of this policy can result in suspension from Jeffco's approved agency list.
The Current Openings and Application Guidelines document contains information and resources for international exchange agencies wishing to place students at Jeffco.

Study Abroad Programs
International student exchange is a extraordinary way for the youth of today to meet the global challenges of tomorrow by building bridges of cross-cultural understanding. Jeffco does not offer its own study abroad/international student exchange program or endorse any particular exchange organization.
We do recommend that students select a program that has been certified by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), a private, not-for-profit organization which establishes standards for, monitors, and disseminates information about reputable international travel, education and exchange programs.
