When do I use EnrollJeffco?

Round One Enrollment

December 6, 2022–January 13, 2023: The K-12 enrollment window for Round One is open December 6 - January 13 for the 2023-24 school year. During this window, use EnrollJeffco to enroll in your (K-12) neighborhood school indicating you are returning to the same school or if you are applying to a different school of your choice.

Preschool enrollment is different this year and families will enroll in preschool in January 2023 instead of during the Round One enrollment window.

A reminder about Round One enrollment: It does not matter when you submit your application during the enrollment window. All applications submitted between December 6, 2022 – January 13, 2023 are treated the same. There is no priority given for applications submitted earlier in the window rather than later. This flexibility allows families to take their time in researching and choosing the school that best fits your student’s needs.

Mid/Late January: If you submitted an application, you will hear from all the schools you applied to in EnrollJeffco users that applied for schools (choice enrollment or preschool) will receive a notification indicating (1) an opportunity to accept an offer, or (2) information about waitlist placement, for each school application. You have three days to accept an offer; only one offer may be accepted.

If you submitted an application in EnrollJeffco to your neighborhood school, you are guaranteed a spot at that school for the 2023-24 school year.

Round Two Enrollment

Frequently Asked Questions

How and when do I enroll my child in preschool for the 2023-24 school year?

Starting in the 2023-24 school year, Jeffco families who have a child that turns 4 years old on or before October 1, 2023 will be able to take advantage of 15 hours per week of free preschool provided by the new Universal Preschool Program (UPK) offered by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC).

Jeffco families can enroll in UPK for the 2023-24 school year starting January 17, on the CDEC Universal Preschool Family Portal.

Jeffco families who have a child that turns 3 years old on or before October 1, 2023 will use EnrollJeffco starting January 17 to enroll in preschool for the 2023-24 school year.

My child has never attended kindergarten and will be 6 years old before October 1. Can we still enroll in kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year?

Yes, you may apply for kindergarten at the school(s) of your choice.

My 6-year-old attended school outside of Jeffco but we would like to attend kindergarten in Jeffco.

If your child has already attended kindergarten in another district/school, and you would like them to attend again, reach out to the Jeffco school you are interested in attending directly to begin the retention process.

What if my child attended kindergarten in Jeffco and I would like them to have another year in kindergarten?

If your child has already attended kindergarten and you would like them to attend again, reach out to the school directly to begin the retention process.

Can my preschooler get another year in preschool even if they turn 5 years old by October 1?

No. Beginning in 2023, Universal Preschool is specifically for every Colorado child in their year before entering kindergarten.

Is there a guide for preschool and kindergarten enrollment?

An updated guide is coming soon. For more information on the Universal Preschool Program, visit:

Enrollment for Families of Closing Schools

A PATH FORWARD TO THRIVING SCHOOLS

Please note: This section is for families of closing schools only.

Families – Be sure to watch this video featuring a special message to families from Tara Peña, Chief of Family, School, and Community Partnerships along with Mackenzie Nickum, Director of Enrollment Services about your enrollment process for the 2023-34 school year. *Note: To turn on Spanish or Russian subtitles, open the video on YouTube, click the gear icon, select "subtitles/CC" and then select your language of choice.

In addition, view this recording from Mackenzie Nickum as she walks you step-by-step through EnrollJeffco.

Expectations moving forward:

  • Each closing school family has a designated enrollment specialist who will assist you through the Round 1 EnrollJeffco process for the 2023-24 school year, which opens on December 6 and closes on January 13, 2023.
    • The enrollment specialist will provide support from November 14 to early February 2023  and will be your best resource for addressing any enrollment-related questions or concerns, for example, transportation eligibility or options for your student(s).
  • All impacted students attending a school that will be closing will receive an enrollment priority for all district-managed elementary schools above the “students who reside in Jefferson County” priority during Round 1 and Round 2 of EnrollJeffco.

Additional questions related to school closure impacts for students, families, and staff can be found on our FAQ and Regional Opportunities for Thriving Schools webpages. The district looks forward to supporting families in making informed decisions on where their student(s) will enroll for the 2023-24 school year.

Frequently Asked Questions about EnrollJeffco

I cannot remember my email address, username, and/or password associated with my account. Do I set up a new one or how do I reset my information?

If your student is currently enrolled in a Jeffco school, or has been in the past, you and your student are already in our system. Please do not attempt to create a new account. You will need to use the existing account to ensure that your student’s information (current school, current grade, etc.) is correct.

I am getting an error message stating that I already exist in the system or that my student already exists in the system. What should I do?

Please use these instructions to create a new Jeffco Parent account to access your previous information. If you are “missing a student” from your EnrollJeffco homepage or are getting a “This student already exists” error message, please contact your school or 303-982-2372 to add your student to your account.

Does it matter when I submit my application?

No. All applications submitted in EnrollJeffco Round One between December 6, and 11:59 pm on January 13, 2023 are entered into the lottery process. The time submitted does not impact your priority or placement in that process.

All applications submitted during round 2 (January 19th, 2023 through August 31st, 2023) are sent offers or placed on a school’s waitlist at the bottom of their priority group in the order the applications are submitted.

How many schools can I apply to?

There is no limit to the number of schools you can submit applications to. Applying to multiple schools does not impact the lottery process in any way. Please note: Students applying to Warren Tech are limited to two applications for Warren Tech.

If I accept an offer to a school, does that impact or remove my application that is on the waitlist for another school?

If you receive one or more offers through the lottery process, you will have 3 days to respond to those offers. You are only able to accept one offer.

Accepting an offer will not remove or change your position for any waitlisted applications. For example, if your student is number 3 on the waitlist at school A, and you receive and accept an offer from School B, your student will remain number 3 on the waitlist at school A.

What family support will be available to navigate choice enrollment options for schools that will close should the recommendation be approved on November 10?

Every school that would close at the end of the 2022-23 school year will have the support of an Enrollment Specialist who will support impacted families through Round 1 EnrollJeffco.

What happens if I accept an offer and decide I want to go back to my neighborhood school?

If you accept an offer to a school but then decide you would like to return to your neighborhood school before the end of the Round One window (January 13), you are still guaranteed enrollment at your neighborhood school but you need to go back to EnrollJeffco and update your application choices.

Once an offer is accepted, that school becomes your designated school for the next school year. If you decide that you want to change schools and return to your neighborhood school, you would need to submit a Round 2 application through EnrollJeffco. Your application will be processed in accordance with Policy JFBA and would be prioritized but no longer guaranteed.

How does the waitlist work?

Families can view this slide deck to gain a better understanding of what it means to be on a waitlist, why your student’s position on the waitlist may change, and more.
